Waste...

Truthdig ... a good site for news ... has a new article by Bob Scheer. I have to quote:

In the effort to retaliate against terrorists who hijacked planes six years ago with an arsenal of $3 knives, this year's overall defense budget has been pushed to $657 billion.  We are now spending $3 billion a week in Iraq alone, occupying a country that had nothing to do with the tragedy that sparked this orgy of militarism.

That kind of sums it up...

Read the whole thing here.

The money is fake.
Special interests run us.

The American Empire is run by special interest groups.

They like the 'war'.

You are hypnotized.

Wake up when I snap my fingers.
SNAP ~!~

Truth dig. Ha ha ha.

The quote is true... not a complete picture, but true.

Actually, it's not. It takes as its premise that all of this "defense" (which really should be called offense) spending has to do with retaliating against terrorists when, in fact, is has to do with oil.

Well... at about 12 BILLION a month on Iraq alone, I'd say the a lot of the $$ are going to 'supposedly' fight 'terrorists'.

You're right in that they aren't terrorists, but that's point: W, et al have used the rhetoric to push thru all this spending - and the ignoramuses in the house refuse to turn off the spigot.

This makes them all very happy.

They line their pockets with the 12 million, the special interest groups that is. ---
The war is a godsend for them. The federal government drives it all. The 'HOUSE' as you say is only part of the larger criminal gang.

The government is a thug organization. They are the bad guys.
Hello R.O.R. -- could you take a look at the big picture ?

If they turn off the 'spigot' America`s Price System goes belly up.
Understand ?

12 billion that is.

At about 12 billion a month on Iraq alone, I'd say that a lot of the $$ is going to Halliburton and Bechtel.

Who's going to turn off the spigot? Congress is owned by the same special interests. They aren't ignoramuses. They are self-interested.

Any and all special interest groups, have but one commonality. That is to deprive others of something, and there must be gain for the special interest group members. Otherwise there would be no function of or for a special interest group.

The U.S. is run by criminal gangs.
All proper and legally done.

Most people are unaware of that.

Many have the antique notions of America being run as a kind of gift from god, and that we are the smartest people on earth.

Reality is that Americans are in general stupid, because of being purposefully dumbed down by a faulty education, yet they think they are 'smart' because they were accidentally blessed with many resources.

Even at that, we risk spiraling down into chaos shortly if our society is not remade into a sustainable, intelligent, alternative from its current criminal operation.

The dems aren't turning off the spigot because they are cynically letting W hang himself. They calculate that it'll help their party in the next election.

The result is the same -- the money continues to flow -- but I believe the motivation is different. Not any better -- and I abhor it -- but it is different.

Most Americans are dumb -- its born out of laziness -- which is born out of being spoiled.

That may be your opinion, but if I were to blame 'something', it would be the brainwash machine, that drives business, and special interest belief systems, for Americans being what they are.

Do you really believe that the same people who are beating the drums for war against Iran think that fully funding the Iraq war will hurt the Republicans in '08?

Reign of Reason said...

Yes... I do. Its called politics.

The Dems are posturing concerning Iran... The are trying to appear tough.

Come'on -- you realize this.

No, R.O.R.
You are left field.
You believe.
You will rationalize to death.

The system is fucked up, and it is not going to get better.

The future will be chaos. The system no longer works. You embrace dis -function.
There are not Dems. There are no Repubs. Just special interest groups.
You are under the spell.

No, I don't. What I see is Joe Lieberman salivating at the chance of slaghtering more Muslims. What I see are Hillary, Obama and Edwards sparring over who can be a bigger warmonger than the Republicans. And I'm supposed to believe all of this is a brilliant, political ploy.

I realize that it is difficult for you to admit that this entire system is a con game, but these rationalizations aren't doing you any good.
